WBTV Television Channel 3 in Charlotte North Carolina did a story on how parents can “break the code” kids use when texting.

For example: Here’s how they suggested parents try to decipher the abbreviated words kids use online and in text messaging.

C: Combinations of characters and numbers found on the cell phone replace the letter. Example: 459 = ILY = I love you

O: Only using first letter of each word in a phrase. Example, if you see “NALOPKT” – Not a lot of people know that.

D: Decode messages using a web service such as: http://www.teenchatdecoder.com
